Ultra low phase noise amplifier

Tomco has recently released a range of RF amplifiers which offer extremely low phase noise. These amplifiers are ideally suited to long-range doppler radar applications in which transmitter phase noise can seriously degrade performance.

Available in a range of frequency bands from 0.1MHz to 600MHz and at output power levels up to tens of kilowatts

We achieve a phase noise specification of less than -90dBc/Hz at 0.1Hz offset at high peak output power levels

The Tomco ultra low phase noise amplifiers employ many phase reduction techniques including:-

• The use of multiple amplifier modules using totally isolated driver stages. 
• Extremely low noise input gain stage on each PA module.
• The use of the lowest noise semiconductor devices currently available
• The use of unique switched biasing circuits to eliminate AM noise.
• Extensive filtering on power supply rails and possible noise sources such as cooling fans
• Implementation of extensive temperature stabilising circuits and techniques
